The Be My Eyes community grows stronger every day. The network of sighted volunteers offering visual assistance now consists of more than 4 million people from all over the world!
Laundry detergent has become more accessible than ever before, with four new Procter & Gamble brands coming on board Be My Eyes Specialized Help.
This month RealSAM has launched In Your Pocket on the amazing Samsung Galaxy XCover4s handset.
In Your Pocket is the UK’s first fully voice-activated smart phone, media player and personal assistant for people with sight loss. Developed with input from the blind community, RealSAM In Your Pocket features a simple accessible voice interface, where users can ask ‘SAM’ for help in everyday life. This includes turning on its inbuilt video magnifier when reading labels while shopping, or its custom-built navigation software that allows users to bookmark landmarks when travelling alone and be guided back with direction and distance. SAM also connects directly to Be My Eyes through a live video call.
The new features on the XCover4s include an IP68 rating making it waterproof, with an extended battery life and faster processor. Prices starting at £25.99 a month as part of a two-year contract, offering unlimited access to RealSAM In Your Pocket’s entertainment library, UK calls and texts and a choice of data plan with O2. All customers are offered 121 telephone support with setting up their handset and have access to a UK based helpline staffed by both a sighted and visually impaired team. – Call 0333 772 7708 to reserve yours now or visit www.inyourpocket.net
Even though Belinda has only answered one Be My Eyes call, she is far from an inexperienced volunteer. Her volunteer resume counts positions as peer counselor, teacher and interviewer just to name a few.Read or listen to Belinda’s Story
“I’m very happy to use Be My Eyes. For me it’s very useful to identify bank slips. Another thing that the app is very helpful for is when I want to find and choose clothes in my wardrobe: people help me to identify the colors of my T-shirts.”
– Antônio, blind user from Brazil.
“It's just really powerful to be a part of an organization that lives and breathes making the world a more accessible and a better place.”
– Bryan, volunteer from USA.
Until next time!
The Be My Eyes Team.
